Pumping our own gas and checking
ourselves out at the grocery store exposes us to all types of bacteria. Touch a germ-infected surface, rub your nose
or mouth, and the next thing you know, microbes are setting up shop in your
body. Viruses and bacteria live in public
areas such as gas stations, shopping malls, grocery stores, restaurants. They can
live up to two hours on elevator buttons, shopping carts, escalator handrails,
or doorknobs, waiting for their next victim.
Cover the gas pump with a paper towel from the windshield cleaning
station next time you fill your car tank.
