Reach Out and Touch Somebody

A former colleague reached out to me from the other side of the world to make sure I was not swept up by the weather events happening across the country.  I was sincerely touched by their concern.  I have crossed paths with so many kind and caring souls as I travelled the world.  When one you have not heard from in sometime checks on your well-being it touches you in unexpected ways and blows your skirt up.

Black Love Challenge

February is a month where we celebrate love and history.  Let’s embrace this as the month of Black Love.  Take time to love on your Negro, Colored, Black, Indigenous, People of Color or African American sisters and brothers however they may refer to themselves.  Reinforce their value, worth and beauty in a world where they may be “othered”. Honor them with thoughtful intention this month and every month.  We can shift the narrative.  The evolution continues!

That Was Intense

We all experience the impacts of trauma whether we are aware or it is unacknowledged.  When it manifests in ways that hinder our momentum or growth, we must learn to sit with those feelings.  In order to adequately heal, we must learn to properly comfort ourselves in ways that correct the neglect.  Numbing or ignoring the injury only delays the inevitable.  Let the emotions freely flow through you and listen for the lessons.

Jovita Moore and Glioblastoma - be careful out there

The passing of Jovita Moore led me to this article about brain cancer and the use of electronic devices.  Be careful out there... The Environmental Health Trust states,  "There is evidence that the numbers of people diagnosed with the type of brain tumor lined to cell phone use - glioblastoma is increasing as document in some US and international cancer registries.  Brain, renal, liver and thyroid cancers are rising in US children.

Researchers recommend to protect yourself with EMF shields, kelp and other natural food sources.

Change Your Perspective

When things seem unclear, sometimes we need to elevate our position to get a better view.  Seeing things with more context from what surrounds it can give us some much needed clarity.  Widening our focus can reduce the impact when we see events in the big picture.  Often times it's not that serious, or subsequently turns out just fine when we give it some time.

Ways to Care

When someone feels down and out consider sharing these gifts - communication through the use of the eyes, ears, voice, hand gestures, head movements and body positioning; trust; intuition through listening to what is said and not said; staying attuned to the energy in the space; sensitivity; self-awareness of my inner dialogue and feeling ; support; education as you offer learned information; openness to hear the pain and pleasure of the story; gentle honesty in sharing what you hear someone saying; silence; collaboration to draw on collective wisdom; boundaries from the speaker as well as me the hearer; humor in being open to hear their laughter; encouragement; finding comfort in silence; active listening; conflict resolution within the self and with others; assessment in order to craft a response.
